According data from Slovak Caves Administration there are about 6200 caves in Slovakia. Shorter overhanging caves are included. 44 caves are declared national monuments, 15 caves are opened to the public, 6 from them are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Caves of Slovak Karst and Aggtelek Karst were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The inscription was based on the common Slovak Hungarian nomination project in 1995 and the World Heritage Committee decided about it on 4-9 december 1995 in Berlin. In 2000 was this project extended to Dobšiná ice cave and on the meeting of World Heritage Committee on 27 November -2 December 2000 in Cairns was the Dobšiná ice cave added to the list.

Krásnohorská cave - cave is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is in region Košice
Dead Bats' Cave - the only cave in high mountains of Slovakia, which is accessible to the public - in region Banská Bystrica
Cave Zlá diera (Bad hole) or Lipovecká cave - in region Prešov
